Our Fervent Christmas Wish

* * *

At this time of year we ponder, we who left our house to wander
From that Green Isle we’ll remember to the end,
Though its years since first we parted and a new life long since started,
Goes this message which at Christmas time we send
From each Irish son and daughter who has travelled o’er the water
Goes the hope that things are booming and that nothing is amiss,
That the season now arriving will find you strong and thriving
And bring blessings to your homestead is our fervent Christmas wish

At this time in thoughts returning all the exiled ones soujourning
O’er the far and distant places on the earth,
For the span of miles can never nor the flight of time e’er sever
Ties that bind us to the country of our birth
To the people of our Nation, strangers, friends and each relation
Here’s the hope that God will grant you peace, happiness and bliss
That in health this message find you, that these simple lines remind you
Of the ones who send their greetings and this fervent Christmas wish.
